These are two articles I wrote which NBC5 Chicago published digitally, with one featured on their main website and the other in their Telemundo publication. During my time as a reporter for the DePaulia (DePaul’s campus newspaper), the university collaborated with NBC, allowing me to submit my work for consideration to be published. I believe my stories were selected for this opportunity out of many other candidates based on the rigorous nature of my research, the professional quality of my writing and the unique importance of my chosen topics. Research Essay
This is a persuasive research essay which gained recognition as a winner of the DePaul First Year Writing Showcase (2022) out of over 100 submissions. For the assignment, I was tasked with choosing a position on a sociopolitical issue, researching and analyzing scholarly works that supported my thesis, and using them to craft a well-organized persuasive essay. These are three articles I wrote as a reporter for The DePaulia (DePaul’s campus newspaper), one of which trended first on the website for multiple days. To gather the contents of my stories, I executed in-depth interviews with students and experts while conducting credible research pertaining to my topics. To craft my pieces and get them published, I identified the most compelling quotes from my sources, utilized AP style format in my writing and responded to feedback from editors in accordance with my deadlines.
